MARY LEE FOUNDATION

Free Brain Injury Groups

The following groups are free and open to the general public:

Brain Injury Support Group (free)
Sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of Austin (BIA-A).

Meets the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Mary Lee Foundation Community Center
1327 Lamar Square Drive Austin, TX 78704

For more information contact Gloria Young, President, at (512) 694-6321 or Leming Xu, President Elect, at lxu330@gmail.com

During the first 15 minutes the participants meet with each other and light refreshments are served. Then the participants divide into groups. There are groups for survivors of brain injury as well as groups for loved ones and caregivers.

This is a peer-to-peer support group setting where families, loved ones and caregivers share their experiences and survivors talk about the changes in their lives and how they are coping. Typically family members will separate from survivors, but this is not required.  Most first Tuesday Brain Injury Association of Austin Support Group meetings have from 50 to 70 people attend. This breaks down to several smaller groups so everyone has an opportunity to share. Each group is moderated by a member of the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of Austin. Attendance is absolutely free.

Brain Injury Information & Training (free)
