Testimonials
An open letter from a former Brain Injury Rehabilitation client . . .
To whom it may concern,
My name is Mark and I would like to tell you about the Mary Lee Foundation Rehabilitation Center. I personally have known Ms. Charlene Crump and her staff for four years now and I can tell you honestly that she has undeniably changed my life. I have taught myself how to write left handed, become completely independent, and realize that I truly am a survivor. There is a lot of love in my heart for the Mary Lee Foundation. I strongly support the efforts that these men and women make, not to mention the untold sacrifices, to make this Community a better place in which to live. I see people that come to work here and it’s because they REALLY CARE . . . People that desire and want to come here everyday and give 110%. People like: Charlene Crump, Don and Rich Lilljedahl, Chip Howe, Von Thompson and Rhonda Johnson.

When I came to Mary Lee I had a goal of living independently. This program helped me reach my goal and I actually got a job here as well. I can now ride a bus to get where I need to go if I want to. I had a hard time doing a lot for myself, but I have learned through Mary Lee. All the people here help me with the things that I can’t understand. I have some good friends who live here that are my age and we hang out playing cards, games, watch T.V., and other stuff. I like living here at Mary Lee.

There were son many ways in which Mary Lee Foundation helped my son who was affected by TBI, that it is impossible to list them all. I imagine that the most outstanding element was the employee’s patience, guidance, training and support that was shown to my son and his family during his recovery. My son had to basically re-learn everything from the beginning as a child does when growing up; speaking, walking, spelling, writing, math, dressing, preparing his meals, and social skills. He now lives by himself in a condo and is able to take care of himself. It has been 5 years this April since our son’s accident. The family continues to see new improvements with his skills as time moves on. We are very thankful that this Foundation was available for him.

I appreciate all that the Mary Lee Foundation has done to help my son grow and become more independent. We are so pleased to have you, Dawn, Lisa, Mr. Bill, Ms. Sharri and all the staff for the love and support you have shown him. This is a wonderful program and I thank each and every one of you for the great jobs you do for my son and all the other clients you help.

My daughter had a very bad motor cycle accident that left her with a serious brain injury. The doctors said she would never do anything except lay in a bed for the rest of her life. Her dad and I just couldn’t and wouldn’t accept this. It was a long hard road, but with lots of hard work and lots of prayers, today she is doing great. Once we had her walking and talking, she wanted to be independent and live on her own. With the help of Mary Lee, and the awesome people who work there, she is living on her own and she even has a job working there as well. I would recommend Mary Lee to any one who wants to have a better life for themselves. The people there are great . . . they have heart.

Good nutrition is necessary, but very expensive. Mary Lee residents typically live on $500-$700/month disability payments. $1 buys at least $4 worth of food for the Mary Lee Food Pantry.
